THE FILM COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED

Seven script finalists announced

We are pleased to announce seven of the scripts that our writers A.L. Kennedy and Neil Gaiman have chosen as finalists in ENO’s Mini Operas competition.

They are:

Based on A.L. Kennedy’s On Paper

She Stops at Costa’s by David Cottis
Love, According to Markov by Elaine Ruth White
3AM Blues by A.J. Olain

Based on Neil Gaiman’s The Sweeper of Dreams

The Calling by Elizabeth Adlington
The Lingerer by Lori Ann Stephens
Wreckage of Dreams by Shaun Gardiner
Lifedream by Anna Starkey

At the moment we are unable to reveal the three finalists chosen by Will Self but we hope to be able to announce them by the end of the week.

We received hundreds of scripts, and getting them down to a list of ten was no easy task. Many congratulations to our finalists. Their scripts will now go through to the second round of Mini Operas, which gives composers, musicians and sound artists the chance to choose one of the ten scripts and compose a soundtrack for it.

In addition one of our script finalists will be chosen to receive a potentially life-changing year’s mentoring with director and writer Jeremy Sams. The name of that lucky person will be announced at the conclusion of Mini Operas in October.

The musicmaking round of Mini Operas will be open until the 23rd of July, so get composing!
